現年44歲的Allen Iverson為到35歲的Carmelo Anthony加入拓荒者而感到高興和安慰。他曾經在金塊隊與Carmelo Anthony當過隊友。

引用Allen Iverson昨天跟Complex Sports’ Load Management的Adam Caparell討論時反映過自己對圍繞Melo身邊的批評感到生氣：「到今時今日，幾乎每個球員都是『防守漏洞』，我會告訴你我聽到那些批評感到十分憤怒。當我還在大學時期，其他人就這樣批評我，然後我進了NBA，別人依舊這樣批評我。那麼多年了，我聽膩這樣的話了。」

“Everybody is a defensive liability in this league today. I’m trying to tell you, man. This shit is making me mad … I hate that comment right there.

“When I was in college — when you think back on it — if any basketball heads in here … you will know what I’m talking about without me saying it.”

Iverson也憶起了他在喬治城大學時期打球和之後嬴得最佳新秀的感受。身高6尺的Iverson當時因防守差而受到抨擊。時至今天，Carmelo Anthony如同，已經重返NBA的他得分能力依然存在，但是球迷對他的防守批評還沒有消失。
