Mychal Thompson：「我的兒子將會一直留在勇士！」

Klay Thompson 目前的合約只剩下一年，至今仍未與球隊相討續約的事宜。早前亦有傳聞指出 Thompson 來季或許會加盟湖人。然而，他的父親 Mychal Thompson 透露他兒子一些內幕消息，他認為 Thompson 將會一直留在奧克蘭，並會在這裡退役。他將會在勇士的新球場 Chase Center 打球，並不是以一名對手的身份到訪，未來七至八年都是勇士的成員。

He’s going to play at Chase Center (the Warriors’ new arena, opening in 2019), and he’s not going to be at Chase Center as a visiting player, he’s going to be a Warrior for the next seven or eight years.”

勇士近年表現出色四年內三度奪得總冠軍，Thompson 的投籃及無球走動對於球隊非常重要，他現時的合約薪酬是1890萬美元。勇士如果與他續約，勢必開出一份同等薪酬的合約。事實上，「死亡五小」的四名成員來季薪酬已經接近1.1億美元，勇士要留下他將會繳納更多的豪華稅，且看勇士屆時會否將 Green 或是 Iggy 其中一人交易。
