Charles Barkley表示，他認為雷霆在今年將會變得更出色。他更表示，如果看看上年的訪問，他早就說過雷霆三巨頭是完全不會成功的，但新球季將會成為一支更出色的球隊。

Charles Barkley覺得Paul George不會有任何的問題，而雷霆的三巨頭除了是Paul George和Russell Westbrook外，就是Steven Adams。對於雷霆引入了Dennis Schroder和Nerlens Noel，他認為這兩人是能夠幫助到球隊的後備球員。因此，雷霆是Charles Barkley心目中第二好的西岸球隊。

“I think that they’re not going to have the questions about Paul George. So now their big three is now Paul, Russell (Westbrook), and Steven Adams,” said Barkley. “I love the addition of (Dennis) Schroder. I think he’s a good backup point guard, he’s going to help them. They also got Nerlens Noel. I think he’s going to help them. So to me, I think Oklahoma City might be the second best team in the Western Conference.”
