[Breaking News] Jason Kidd將成Nets新教練

The man who once led the Nets to two straight NBA Finals appearances will try to win an O'Brien Trophy as their head coach.

According to a report from The Philadelphia Inquirer's Joseph Gambardello, Jason Kidd and the Nets are finalizing a three-year deal for the former point guard to become their head coach just weeks after retiring as a player. That's according to a source who also said "an announcement is expected this week."

Just yesterday, there were reports that Kidd was the "leading candidate." And according to ESPN's Chris Broussard (via SportsCenter's Twitter feed), Kidd "impressed Nets in interview for head coaching job Monday, exhibited 'supreme confidence.'" But Brooklyn was also in talks with ex-NBA guard Brian Shaw for the role. According to The Daily News' Stefan Bondy, he was reportedly supposed to interview with the team today.

The Star-Ledger's Dave D'Alessandro wrote yesterday that hiring Kidd wasn't a great candidate for the job. When he spoke to former NBA coaches, one said, "Hiring someone with no experience shows the perception that management people have of the job. They think you’re the big-picture guy who uses assistants to work out all the fine details, when the fact is, you’re obsessing over them day and night."

Kidd just finished a season in which he played three games against the team he'll now reportedly coach, averaging 12.0 points per game, 5.7 rebounds and 4.0 assists.
