就像每一個帶著眾人期望能改變一支貧弱球隊的狀元新秀，底特律活塞的Cade Cunningham也被寄望能重新振興汽車城。雖然歷史證明了，有的偉大球星就是以此為起點展開生涯，但相反的也有的人被貼上水貨標籤一輩子，這不見得公平卻是每個狀元的宿命。
Cunningham一開季的表現讓人質疑是不是後者機率比較大，但這位20歲球員最近找到了自己的節奏，並確立了自己是年度最佳新秀的目標。

數據正逐漸開始支持他的自信，因為Cunningham在1月份場均攻下15.9分，外帶5.4次助攻和3.4個籃板，而且最重要的是他帶領實力差幾個檔次的活塞擊敗爵士和公鹿隊。另一個值得你注意的是根據數據顯示，Cunningham每場單打的得分比Steph Curry、Luka Doncic和Trae Young還高。

現階段的Mobley身處騎士並不會像Cunningham那樣被賦予各種任務，而是專心做好防守與禁區工事，他的某些數據在季末可能會被超越，但騎士戰績肯定勝過活塞不少，最佳新秀之爭還得看下去。

媒體：你的新秀年過得怎麼樣？我知道這是一場漫長的馬拉松。

Cunningham：這很有趣。是的，這段旅程確實有起有落，但我很開心打球並到處旅行，這對我來說很有趣，所以我就像是在做夢般。

媒體：球隊中是否有任何前輩關照著你？

Cunningham：我有Rodney McGruder...還有Trey Lyles和Josh Jackson。我們有一群優秀的前輩，我們有一支年輕的團隊，所以有他們在身邊對我帶來很多幫助。


媒體：隨著賽季的進行，你的表現越來越好。你在NBA打的比賽已經比在俄克拉荷馬州立大學還多，你覺得正在大步前進嗎？
Cunningham：我覺得我正在大步邁進。就像我說的，我有一些糟糕的比賽，但也有一些非常好的比賽。我知道這將是一連串的起落，但我只是努力保持專注和冷靜，以同樣的方式對待每場比賽，享受樂趣。

Cunningham：我想說的是讓工作和你的方法保持一致。你很難控制每場比賽的樣貌，有時可能會遵循你的方向，有時不會。如果你每天都嘗試變得更好，並始終如一朝著自己的目標前進，那麼你會沒事的。

引用I'd say just be consistent with the work and your approach. It's hard to control how every game is going to look. Sometimes the ball may fall your way, and sometimes it won't. If you can try to get better each and every day and be consistent towards your goals; then you'll be all right.
